We have our first team meeting today. Our team consists of Taeho Sung ’17, Sean Cann ’17, Jun Suh ’17, and Edrei Chua ’17.

A little more about our team: Taeho is a Computer Science major, Sean is a Computer Science modified with Economics major, Jun Suh is a Computer Science and Economics major and Edrei is a Physics major. Taeho and Jun are from South Korea, Sean is from Ohio and Edrei is from Singapore. As you can tell, the team is very diverse and we are all really excited to see what we can accomplish within the next 3 weeks!

For our first meeting, we talked about the ideas we have for the app. Meal Buddy is an app that is targeted at college students who want to get to know more people on campus. Students can sign up to get meals with another student on campus, by choosing the time and location of the meal. They can also indicate the major and class year of the person they want to get a meal with. The app will then match students up.

For the back end, we will require some kind of server to upload profile information and to perform the matching. For the UI, we plan to have a profile page for the user to enter their preference, a sign up activity for them to sign up for meals, and a reminder tab that shows the meal that are planned for the week.

Additional features (subjected to time constraints) include a page that shows the menu for the day or the week (so that user can decide if they want to get a meal at a particular location), notification and alarm to remind the user of any meals that have been arranged, an option for the user to exchange all information (facebook, blitz, phone number, LinkedIn, Twitter etc) and options to arrange meals with friends (or get meals with friends spontaneously by checking if any of them happen to be at Foco, Collis or Hop).

We also designed a logo for our app, created a website (the one that you are viewing right now!) and brainstormed ideas for the UI (pictures shown below!). In addition, we signed up for our presentations on google doc. We plan to meet up over the weekend, after we are done with MyRuns6, to discuss more ideas and to delegate roles for this project.

Overall, this is a productive meeting and we are excited to meet up again to work on the app.

Here are some diagrams of our initial plans:
